Hello again,

Perhaps my original question was too long. Anyway here we go again. I own a G3 333 beige, with a 9GB HD and a 42GB HD sitting on the SCSI-2 68pin, the 42 GB drive is FULL HIGH, I had to eliminate the floppy (I never used it) to accomodate the drive. The PCI slots are all full. This mac has an IDE Zip 100 and an IDE CD burner fairly new. I just got a 400Mhz G3 in eBay. Its a blue model.

With this arrangement in my G3 333 Beige, what components are compatible with the G3 Blue? I want to keep the G3 beige with the 9GB HD and put the 42 GB full high in the blue one. Can it be done by removing the floppy also? How can I upgrade the CD on the blue one? I want to put my Beige's IDE burner in there.

Can it use my standard mouse & keyboard? Or do I need USB? Also can I use a PC display with it? thanks!

I'll answer what I can:

The B&W does not have a floppy.

Once you open it up, it should be pretty easy to see how to swap out the CD for your burner. There is room underneath for an internal Zip, but you will need to get a faceplate.

The SCSI card will work in the B&W. I THINK the drive will fit if it is 3.5 wide and not a 5 1/4" wide one, If it is a true full size (5 1/4" wide and 3.2" tall -not exact, but close enough) I do not think it will fit.

You can use either USB or older ADB keyboards and mice, but I do not know if adb keyboards are supported in Panther (10.3)

It has a regular VGA connector (3 rows of pins), not the Apple style (2 rows) like on your beige.

HTH,
Len
