Well I guess I'm coming off sounding like a real snot, huh? But the
only reason I have an interest in ipods is because I recently got
*2* of them FOR FREE!! Otherwise, I had no interest or money for one
of them either.
Well, just pointing out that if you didn't want one I would certainly
take the one allotted to you! LOL! :o)
But they are way too cool. The old one (generation 1, probably the
first one they made) has a screen that's only gray, but plays like a
charm. So I just charged it up, it automatically puts all the songs
you have in iTunes on it when you hook it up via firewire (also how
you charge it) and plug it in a cassette adapter in my car, and let
it play. Really nice sound.
The newer one (3rd generation) was a total mess so over the last few
months have spent a total of $40 (and a LOT of googling) to get it
going (battery and dock) and son-of-a-gun if it doesn't work GREAT!!
So sorry if I came across as a snotty little rich kid, believe me,
I'm anything BUT.

We live near (unnamed) University and some graduating seniors told
my husband where all the seniors who are leaving the country leave a
lot of the *good* stuff they don't want to drag on the plane with
them, and this is how we acquired two free ipods. Plus gobs of other
very cool stuff, most of it totally non-working but a little work
and ingenuity sure helps.
There is probably a place like that here...but I don't know the right
people! Darn! Glad you got the good stuff and can get it to work!
