I have a a 1GB USB 2 flash drive that I use regularly to transfer
files, on a USB 1 only (G4 OS9) system they will transfer a Gig in
about 40-45 minutes. On my G5 (OSX) USB 1 (via) the monitor port
about the same, maybe a tad faster, when I use the front (on the G5)
USB 2 port it takes about 3-5 minutes.
Doesn't really seem to make a difference whether it is a lot of small
files or a few large ones.
Regards,
Mark

G'day from Oz
I bought a 1 Gig thumb drive on eBay, advertised as high speed usb 2.
In reality, once it arrived, it takes 45 minutes to transfer 1 Gig. I
calculate that equates to 2.8 Mb/s, or about double usb1 rate.
The seller has offered to swap (I posted negative feedback), but I
want to know what a realistic time is to transfer 1 Gig at full usb2
rates. At 480Mb/s it should take 17 odd seconds, but is that
practical? Is there anybody with a usb2 thumb drive can advise
please?
TIA
Santa
