I don't use it often since I don't shop much, but I do have a verified
PayPal account (and, for those who mentioned it, I've also in the past
registered some sharewares through Kagi).

PayPal I use on the Swap List, and I haven't had a problem with it. I
sent the sellers my money via PayPal and got what I paid for. The Kagi
deals also went well, too. I love the apps and having needed tech help
with one of them once (which you only get by registering, i.e., paying
the shareware fee, which I did), I got it promptly.

Okay, I have to admit that you all buy more stuff than I do, and I've
only used PayPal as a buyer, not a seller, so my experience is limited,
but so far, so good.

I've had some phishing attempts made on my PayPal account, though. The
first one was an email saying I had to go in and confirm my info because
my account would be suspended "unless..." (wish I could remember the
reason, it was quite awhile ago). In any case, I was told by PayPal that
I can distinguish a genuine PayPal email from one coming from a
"phisherman" (yes, I'm paraphrasing here) in this manner: the real ones
address you by your real name, whereas the fraudulent ones say things
like Dear PayPal Member or Dear Customer and so forth. Meaning, unless
they use your real name, they're fake and you should NOT go to the links,
should NOT give your info, and you SHOULD forward these emails to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] I got that helpful info, believe it or not, by calling
PayPal on the phone. True, I was on hold for a long time before I got a
human being on the line, but I got one, and she's the one who told me how
to differentiate real vs. fraudulent PayPal email (and what to do with
emails coming from phishers).
