How can it possibly be positive for Apple for OSX to run on generic PC

Windows hardware and no Apple hardware since it is more expensive?

I would agree that OS X being able to run on generic PC hardware is bad
news. If you can install OS X freely on a cheap Dell, how many people
are going to willing to pay a premium for an Apple-built machine with
basically the same guts? I'd bet not enough to keep Apple in the
hardware business (other than iPods, of course). As was said before,
unless Apple comes up with some nearly "hack-proof" way to tie the Mac
OS to the Apple-built hardware only, that's exactly what will happen.
And lets be honest here, nothing is hack-proof. And what good would it
do Apple to build "unique hardware" for Windows? I see no benefit there
at all.
