Yes, it will play and burn DVD's as well as CD's. It is a LightScribe enabled unit. If you use LightScribe discs, after you burn the disc, you can turn it over in the DVD/CD burner and it will inscribe a label directly on the disc. The disc labeling software allows you to design a label and enables the burner to inscribe it on the disc.
