DVD-RAM is a little used format.  It can be read AND written to at 
random just like a HD.

It is NOT DVD-R, +R, -R/W nor +R/W.  DVD-RAM came out before any of the 
other DVD recordable formats.

Read-only for DVD-RAM is supported for those users who had a full 
DVD-RAM drive at one time and want to still be able to read their old disks.
