Greetings all,
Just a report re: an odd behavior with my G5's optical drive. The G5
in question is one of the older 1.6GHz single CPU units (3-Gig RAM)
with an OEM Pioneer 106D Super Drive, running OS 10.5.5.
Here's the report:
All DVDs are read fine, movie or software or back-up data

Some *CDs* will not mount (to read/install software), but some will.
The only similar trait that the non-mounting CDs have is that they
host installable software that requires authorization of sorts, either
an active authorization (where the reg. no. needs to be logged in
order to proceed with installation), or a scanned activation via an
iLok dongle.

If the CD is a home-burn, or a commercial plug-n-play (so to speak),
it reads fine. If the disk is a DVD, it reads fine.

The fix? Unplug the ethernet cable..... the CD will spin up and mount!

Anybody else have or heard of something similar in experience? Quite
curious!
Thanks,
Dana
