About right; They were the continuation of the LC series, for 'Low Cost"...the Mac II for the rest of us :-) > and there aren't a lot > of slots for extra video cards or internal hi-speed SATA drives, ?? If you're doing the kinds of stuff you do with computers than need multiple video cards and lots of high=speed internal storage, you more than likely need the added power of a Mac Pro anyway. You're talking something that's running several monitors (the iMac supports 2 out of the box) and that much high speed storage, so tell me, what are you running that needs those kind of high-end capabilities, that doesn't also need serious CPU power? If it's a file server you're after, just get a pc box, stuff it full of drives and Linux and stick it on a gigabit network. Samba rulz. Games? Gah, just get an XBox/Wii/PS3/CheapAssPC and be done with it. Otherwise you're doing bigtime video/3D/Photoshopping, etc and at that point you're up in workstation territory, meaning a Mac Pro. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
