PowerMac G4 AGp Released October 1999 Release Price $2499
/(On February 16, 2000, a reduced configuration was introduced --
M7641LL/A -- for US$1599)/
G4 500DP (GigE) July 2000
$3499/$3199
G4 867 QS July 2001
$2499
Skip a few years.....
MacPro Quad Core August 2006
$2499
MacPro Eight Core Jan
2008 $2799
Even taking the early vs the latest, there's an increase of $300 in
eight years for a helluva lot more capability.
Hell, even my old Beige G3/300 cost me £1499 in 1998 when I bought it -
the same as the UK price now of an 8-core MacPro.
Taking account of the reduction in purchasing power of both the US$ and
£Sterling, they're cheaper than ever.
It's just that (here in the UK at least) all other demands on my income
are becoming dearer at an exponential rate.
