I know what you mean about the ppc blues. Up until a year ago, I was
trying to keep a Sawtooth (aka AGP graphics) alive. A friend
eventually pointed out that for what I was spending on upgrades, I
could've bought a whole new computer. So I broke down and got a dual
G5 partially funded by the sale of my Sawtooth. And I'm still on the
PPC team (though I do have an Intel iMac as well.)
Your idea of using the 9200 and 9800 in tandem might work, but one or
the other OS might not boot if it doesn't recognize the video card.

Thank you all for the help and tips as I really appreciate them!!!
I guess I'm going through the PPC blues, especially when I read on
other Mac sites about performance and all the new power available from
even the mini intel. And of course, all the groaning of PPC Mac users.
(Like mine)
I'm not giving up though.
Here's the goofy card I messed up buying, and I got it a few months
ago so I can't return it and I only paid 20 bucks for it on the x-mas
sale @ OWC: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Firmtek/SATA1SC1/ yes, it
was a typo, it's 1sc1.
I could actually use it with an ATA drive when I get a PCI SATA card.
So there's a solution to this mess!!!
I would go for FW 800 Boot, but it won't do OS 9. FW 400 is nice, so
maybe.
I may just finally get the Sonnet or the Seritek PCI card and give
this old champ DA a final last run for my money. No sense in leaving
this old friend behind on the gigabytes and fun! FW 400 will be needed
for backups and media, etc.
I know some people here may be getting tired of me talking about how
I'm going to upgrade this, but I made an honest mistake by my
misunderstanding of what I was getting. The description of the 1SC1
confused me.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong. I could use my PCI 9200 radeon for OS 9
booting and still have a newer 9800 ATi card?
Swap the monitor cord when booting to the 9200 PCI for OS 9 from my
AGP card?
Cheers,
Mike
Anyway, I'm just trying to get the get the best of both worlds in my
upgrading and it's not always easy

I got the wrong SATA connector for my drive I just ordered. It's the

I don't see any such model of Seritek card? You may have transposed
the model# ?
I thought it was for using SATA on ATA bus, but it's for ATA/ IDE on
SATA.
Return it, or sell it. Bootable SATA will require another Seritek
card.
You might consider booting from an external Firewire HD which is
probably cheaper than an SATA HD and a Seritek card.
