On my dual G5 there is zero difference in using FW800 or FW400, at least with enclosures with single PATA 133 HDs. I suppose there's a small chance that an SATA enclosure might be marginally faster, but I doubt it? As an operating system, the speed differences between FW400 & FW800 for single HD systems are marginal and insignificant. The limit is the HD. There's no gain with FW800 unless you're using a multiple HD RAID.
