Howdy,
I'd say it depends on what you use the computer for. Is it your only
computer or one of 10(although I don't know how anyone would get by with
only 10 computers)?
If it is your main computer, then go with an up to date Linux, because
of security. A 1st class firewall can help, but for some things, you
need to stay up to date.
I thought the Linux versus Mac quote was cute. I don't think that
fully explains why Linux is so much better for most purposes.
Partially, that is because a lot of Linux code is contributed by people
who are paid to work on the system, just like Apple employees. It also
does not explain why OSes with active and loyal contributers like Haiku
and Syllable are not further along.
All of these OSes have good uses and I would miss OSX, if I ever have
to give it up. I suppose my G4 and an eventual G5 will wear out after a
while. But, I don't think I'll ever have 30 OSX machines, like I have
that many Linux machines now.
Have a good day,
Ralph
