Drive appears in System Profiler but not on the desktop?
Was using LaCie Porsche as a back up drive as a general precaution
and as computer hard drive was starting to fail. Installed new
computer hard drive. I shut down the computer, turned off the LaCie
external drive and then unplugged the firewire cable. I then
installed new hard drive in the computer and tried to start up on the
operating system that I had installed on the LaCie drive as I was
using the external drive for my main drive. A screen came up with a
icon of a file with a question mark in the center of the file icon. I
allowed this condition to exist for five minutes or so and then
installed a new OS 10.4.11 from my computer disk and the new system
loaded and I was able to start the computer. Checked the System
Profiler and found this on the profiler:

The LaCie drive does not appear on the desktop or the Disk Utility.
Please help as I have the work of years loaded on the LaCie back up
drive.
Thank you so much.
