I completely misunderstood. I thought you said you had put another
drive in the case. If it's the original drive and Disk Utility
doesn't see it at all, something is either wrong with the enclosure
or the hard drive.

Stick your ear on the power supply ... is it dead quiet or do you
hear humming or crinkling noises. A well working power supply should
be dead quiet.
