Hi Mike, You need to find a meadow to build on. Tab around in a square until you find the meadow, then select one or more peasants, then hit the a key until you get to build farm. Alternatively, you can selet the peasants first, find the meadow then use the a key to build farm, either way works fine. The more peasants you put to this task, the faster it is built. Same technique for all other buildings. You can clear land for meadows by exhausting gold mines and wood areas as well, which is very important. It seems most people aren't using enough peasants initially, I use 5 peasants until i get 2 farms and my barracks built, then i go up to 10 peasants, to get all the wood and gold as fast as I can. This seems to work pretty well. Also, set a rally point for your soldiers and archers that is placed at a location the enemy will have to come through to attack your buildings, this way you won't have to worry about the enemy sneaking up on you.
