Well Tom, updating the music, so long as you kept the themes the same seems 
reasonable to me, ----- after all, game companies have done the same thing 
with newer releases of old games for years. but having mario actually 
shooting realistically sounding flaming fireballs? to me that feels far too 
serious and out of context for a mario game, but that's just my personal 
opinion.

Everytime a new rendition of an old game appears in the Mainstream line, 
there does appear to be this sort of debate, about whether X should've 
stayed the same while Y should've been changed. Ultimately, it's both a fine 
balance and a matter of opinion anyway.
