Well guys, I never said anything about Rail Racer failing, far from it, we
have a dedicated core of players that play it day in and day out, especially
in the tournaments. I had hoped to move about 300 units, and that may come
to pass yet as good word of mouth spreads about my game, but right now I'm
right around 200 units sold. I did not get into this to make lots of money,
that just isn't going to happen in the blind gaming market, but I am
disappointed when people don't even give it a fair chance. I have seen this
quite a bit with Sound RTS in fact, as people can't jump right in and start
succeeding immediately, so a lot of them just never try again.
If I wanted to make more money at this, I would just continually release
another dumb shooter, or another platform game which seems to be quite
popular on list here, but does nothing at all for me as a developer, as I
want to test new ideas and gaming possibilities that haven't been done
before.
If players give Rail Racer an honest shot, and find it is not the game for
them, I have no problem with that, but those that run it for 5 minutes, then
delete it because it is a challenge to get good at, I just don't understand
that at all. Very few things in life that are rewarding are easy. If I had
given up on Sound RTS the first time I lost, I would have missed out on one
of the best gaming experiences available for the blind community at any
price.
In the end, these people are robbing themselves of a lot of fun and
challenge, as well as some dedicated developers out of much deserved sales.
I implore those of you that have given up on games because they seem too
difficult to go back and try again, some of the best gaming experiences
available out there are some of the most challenging.
  Later,
  Che
