Yeah, plot and atmosphere are big for me as well. Shaolin Monks wasn't for
the cube, but Deception would be worth it. Some of them fatalities
particularly...
This was why I went out for sony consoles. There are just more fighting
games as it seems to me, and the exclusives like Tekken five and Soul
Calibur 3 which have pretty decent story modes is wonderful.

Fair enough clemment, I know my situation is different from others here.
I've actually been considdering buying deception and shaolin munks
recently, just for the sake of trying and because Gc copies would now be
incredibly cheap, so even if it didn't work I'd stil have a playable
arcade game for not much money.

As well though for me, I've always enjoyed plot and atmosphere in games,
while I've been playing beat em ups ever sinse Streetfighter 2 and
original Mk2 on the Snes, I only really became tremendously interested
when story modes became available, ------ which is why I now feel mildly
frustrated at the direction series like Mk and soul calibur have gone with
their story modes.

As a totally blind person who got into video games, I guess I can't
relate as well. Growing up on fighters and brawlers, it's hard to say
that I have a problem with playing games the way you two have a hard time
with.
In regards to alliance, I did like that story mode better. Deception's
story mode is a pain, yes, but the other modes are worth the buy. The
games I find hard to play are games that have too much going on at once.
Some instances of Urban Reign, for example. There are six or seven guys
surrounding you and with the music and voices it's hard to tell which way
to turn. I don't know. Video games have just never been hard for me
though again, I guess it's because I never actually had to rely on my
vision for them.

There's an irony Tom, you've listed some of my current favourites like
the Mega man games, Double dragon and centipeed which i play from a low
vision perspective.
I must admit, sinse I've started playing audiogames I have paid more
attention to, and probably used game audio in graphical games a lot more
than I did before, but for the reasons you detail I don't play games
which I cannot use my vision on at all, though I know some other people
have.
A good example is Mk deception. I really enjoyed deadly alliance,
especially the textual story mode (perfectly easy with a faq).
I haven't however bought deception sinse the games story mode went into
3D and became visually totally inaccessible for me.
while I know some people, through extensive memorization and use of
audio have managed this mode, ---- I'd personally just find it
exceptionally irritating I think.

That's definitely an interesting line up. What is sort of funny is
while my wife and I do own a PS2 I don't often play it myself. I find
learning to play mainstream games a struggle as many of the games I
like require alot of physical consentration and memorisation to play.
I don't enjoy vidio games as much as I once did, and I think alot has
to do with the fact I know what it was like playing games with sight.
However, back in the 1980's I think I was a vidio gaming king. As far
as a favorites list goes here is a pretty good list of the ones I
played often when I still could see to play them.
