Talk to jonas hawk and do the training missions. They get you lots of stuff.
Then, go to new orion and do gunny's combat missions to get the basics of
combat.
After that it's really up to you. You can check out some other npcs for
missions, begain hawling, go in for mining and extractors, ---- look at
getting a Mal store or a factory, ---- lots of things!
here are some quick tips on the game activities I've tried:
1: As darren said, passenger cabins are a good investment, and can help you
make a lot of money quickly, ---- though keep up with cargo transport as
well to run up faction xp and get to higher paying missions later on, ----
pluss, if your going halfway across the galaxy, it doesn't make sense to do
it with an empty hold.
2: talk to other players on chat. it's a great way to buy and sell
resources, and when an npc asks you for something random, it's the best way
of getting it.
3: extractors and mining drones take litle skill to use, but can fetch a
very good profet, ---- particularly sinse they can work while your not on
the game. you've got structure points and drone control points, --- you
might as well use them.
4: For combat, offense is more important than defense. Get as big a gun for
your level as you can, ---- and a combat drone as soon as your able. Combat
loot can fetch good prices and missions give xp (though you'll generally get
more selling the loot than being rewarded for the mission).
5: missiles are a waste of time Ip and money, don't bother with them!
6: the best places to buy new items are the player's markit, or player run
settlements where the npc stores have a discount on them.

What would be your recommendations for just getting started? I took a look
at the site last night and thought I might give it a shot.

a few unlabled things, --- but their not really a concern. The main
problem is that the threat rating of enemy ships is currently only visible
via text colour, ---- but the developer is very literally working on this
as I right this (he was asking me to test things out this morning).
There are also some very! huge tables which at the moment take quite a
while to navigate, so I've request he add some filters for the
information, ---- nbut none of these things should detract from your
enjoyment of the game, ---- pluss, as I said they are very much being
worked on, so showing support for this would be appreciated.
The game is also as I said, fantastic!

Are there any accessibility issues? I think you posted them before but I
wasn't really paying attention to the thread at the time.

For the second time this morning, --- and those who wish to know, Core
exiles, ---- or Ce is an online game played in your brouser.
It is rather like the smugglers games in that you have a spaceship, fly
around, undertake missions for npcs or various factions, fight pirates
and other enemies, trade goods, mine asteroids and a hole bunch of
other things which there's not time to go into (there truly is! a
staggering amount of stuff to do in the game).
The game has lots of background and story, ---- and npc missions, also
trading with other players and the ability to own factories,
settlements or stores to sell things.
Other than batling mechs for sport, there is absolutely no pvp and
players cannot attack one another, ---- which actually makes for a
very! nice bunch of players to interact with.
You can find it at http://www.core-exiles.com/
