Hello,

Spoilers ahead

It is different strategies. I always do better with magic and monk characters as my primary. This is because I think in strategies using these characters. It has always been the same for me with tabletop fantasy role-playing games.

Others do better with fighter type characters as that is how they think for strategy.

I just defeated the drake using two gnome tricksters (one is my primary char and one is a rescue, a halfling druid, my pet, and a summoned goblin necro. The only one who died was the goblin necro, and that was with two fire breaths. All of my chars cast summmon animal which populated the area with a bunch of cave bats (extra targets for the drake). I had 9 healing potions (4 were purch with the drake's neck being mangled right as it shifted to critically injured. ased in town and the rest were found) and two web scrolls which I used. My main char was using the scrolls and passing out the healing potions as he could not really do much with his fire bolts against the drake. Whenever a summoned animal died, I used summon animal again from each char until I found the one who could summon another animal.

My trickster necro pounded on the drakes neck with iceblast, and my druid bard used regeneration song for the party and threw lightning bolts. I actually had the goblin king's twins equipped and forgot about them. It was a long battle, but we were victorious, and with no reloads.

Hello,
That, I believe, is bizarre. If you aren't a certain class well then you
miss out on a lot. The character I want always, I mean always, protected is
my main character, and while I am not get nearly 30 hitpoints worth of
damage at the beginning of the game this Job isn't exactly the easiest to
cope with.

Assassins actually don't have plate armour skill as far as I know, just leather and possibly the option of buying chain. at an increased skill cost.

fighters and paladins are I believe the only ones with it.

Beware the grue!

That has to do with class, not race. A Bard or Monk can't wear plate armor

from what I've noticed. I believe the only ones who can, or at least who actually have a plate armor skill, are the FIghter and possibly Assassin and Paladin. Someone feel free to clarify if I've left any out. Homer: Hey, uh, could you go across the street and get me a slice of pizza?
Vender: No pizza. Only Khlav Kalash.

Hi Dark,
Can this be a severed anything? I have seen the game say that this character
or other can put a severed hand on their right hand. One more question. I
notice some equipment cannot be worn by my main character. For example, I

am
a Mail Human Bard Monk, and cannot seem to equip the breastplate you get
from beating the Goblin King in level 6. Why is this so?
Best Regards,
Hayden

Indeed Tom.

I'd say this is a floor with lots of rpgs, extremely uninteresting and
undescriptive combat, ---- especially those which rely heavily on hp
mechanics. In the D&D 2nd eddition books I've read, it specifically states that the hp should be taken as a guide to roleplay and an indicator for what

damage is done and what condition someone is in, not as red that 100 percent

= perfect health, 0 is death, and pretty much everything betwene is the
same.

I do admit the entombed system has taken quite a lot of balancing out, even up to a couple of versions ago, it was too easy for just about enemy on the lower floors to one shot a magic based character with a shot to the head or torso, ---- but sinse Jason added more overall hp for those jobs it's been
working very well and provides great stratogy and realism.

Btw, miner spoiler but some fun! try picking up a severed head then looking
in your equipment list for a rather amusing litle touch which has been in
right from the very early private alphas.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Hi Dark,
Yeah, so I've noticed. I am actually glad to see the more complex
combat system in Entombed compared to a game like Sryth. With Sryth
the combat system is rather lame and not too descriptive of the damage
done to an enemy character. In Entombed you can chop an enemies legs
out from under him, chop off a hand holding a weapon, or lop off his
head. That makes it much more realistic and more fun.

On the level of entombed, I will say that the purpose of the limb system
was
actually to make a far more interesting and realistic form of hp and
damage
taking than in most rpgs which just rely on a number of hp.

that's why you can knock people over by hitting their feet, or disarm
them
by aiming for hands. that's why descriptions of hand mangling and indeed
limb or head chopping are fairly minimal, because those aren't really a
major point of the game.

Beware the grue!

Dark.
