Hi Tom.
I do agree regarding the pb games, in fact I stil play tj on a fair few
occasions (philip did a good job there indeed).
However one question, other than for cross platform compatibility, what
would be the need to rewrite and update the games?
Obviously, for people using lynux etc, versions that would work on their
native os would be a good thing, so I could see the logic there, but for
everyone else, would there be any advantage in rewriting say tarzan junior
in python which isn't currently present?
I believe the game is currently written in vb, and will run on post xp
windows if the right components are installed the way Jim's games do.
Would there be any actual performance difference in the game being rewritten
in one language as opposed to another?
Obviously, this is a fairly theoretical discussion and nobody is expecting
you, ----- or indeed Philip, to do such a rewrite, I just find it
intreaguing when certain developers like yourself mention "rewriting" a
piece of software in another language sinse this always sounds to me like a
hugely time consuming task, rather like tearing something down completely
only to rebuild t again and I find myself sometimes wondering about the
material advantage of such rewrites (other than the cross platform business
which does indeed make sense to me).
Beware the Grue!
Dark.
Obviously this is a theoretical

Hi,
Mmmmmm...No thank you. I have no desire to take over something like
Bavisoft. While the games had great sound effects the games themselves
weren't really that good from what I have heard.
Now, if it was something like the PB Games I'd consider creating
updated versions. Dark Destroyer is a pretty cool game and probably
wouldn't take much to update, and convert to something like Python and
PyGame. Same for Tarzan Junior. I actually like Tarzan Junior, and
find the game pretty challenging. Both are at least worth
considdering. Grin.

Yep even the copy right on their sight is six years old, maybe one of our
good developers should take them over, hell no one needs that reputation,
bad idea lisa. grin.
