As far as I can determine, you actually can't jump very far horizontally,
only two or three feet, thus you need to climb the vine and walk along the
branche.
To climb, just hold ctrl up arrow until you hear Jim grunt as he pulls
himself over the top of the vine so that he's standing on the branche, then
use the look commands to determine where the branche ends (it'll say air to
indicate the end).
You seem to be able to fall anything up to 8 feet without taking damage, so
if you look below you while on a branche you'll see others to land on. This
seems the best way of getting across the quicksand, and also a good way to
get out of trouble sinse tougher enemies like the boars stay on the ground,
and there are even fewer chimps up in the trees.
Beware the grue!

Hi everyone, I was on one vine and trying to reach the next one, but died
in some quick sand, even though I kept hitting my right arrow and control
to try and swim fast over it. Could someone tell me how I get over it.
The documentation says nothing about swimming, so I think you have to get
over it in the air, but I don't seem to be able to jump far enough. What
