Funnily enough, I know lots of people with quite normal sight who dislike ribbon controls.

Microsoft really made an error there i think, but i doubt it'll be corrected in windows 8.

Beware the grue!

Ribbons are the worst thing Microsoft ever did, apart from windows 7 itself,
imho

well I have the latest nvda.
Ie9 is faster and has standards complience.
Nvda can not read progress bars though which is a pain, i don't think there
is any way to stop win7 updating to ie9 or at least I have not found a way
to hide it.
However, it does have some features which though annoying I do like.
Everything including info bars etc is on the toolbar, its download manager
is a bit strange, but you can view your downloads in a new window and thats ok, The new ribbon is quite a thing to get used to, but the normal text menu
just like the dos command line before it is passed its used by date.
So eventually we will have to start using it.
Eventually you should be able to see what shortcut does what, etc.
I fortunately still have winxp, though if I switch to 7 it will be
ie9 unless ofcause I can somehow stop it doing that.
win8 will be fully ribbonised though.

Hi Dark,

No. If anything else Internet Explorer 9 is far worse than Internet
Explorer 8 for a number of reasons.

First, as I mentioned in a prior e-mail it no longer uses MSAA on
Windows 7 but uses Microsoft's new accessibility U.I. framework which
not all screen readers support yet. This means accessibility is hit or
miss depending on how up to date your screen reader is etc.

Second, Internet Explorer 9 has a lot of stuff on the screen. Not just
the multitabbed browsing--which I like--but a lot of extra tool bars
and other things that add clutter to the interface. Honestly I hate
using Internet Explorer these days because Microsoft has tried to keep
up with Firefox, Chrome, etc and their user interface is no longer
simple and straight forward.

However, the features in I.E. 9 are very much like the ribbon controls,
and is something we'll have to get use to in order to move forward. All
of the major web browsers Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc all have multitab
web browsing so its not surprising Internet Explorer would add features
like that to compete with their competition.Unless someone is willing
to stick with I.E. 6 or 7 for the rest of their lives they'll have to
get use to the new U.I. sooner or later.

As for myself I don't use I.E. I've switched to Google Chrome because
it is A, very accessible, B, much faster, and C, the U.I. has a lot of
features packed into a simple user interface. Google is turning out to
be a great software developer, and seam willing enough to make their
products fairly accessible as they can. I guess what I like about
Chrome is its not bloated like I.E.

Cheers!
