Hi Lori, Ah, I see. Well, in case no one ever told you this you are not really suppose to just unplug a USB device. Especially, external hard drives and flash drives. To safely remove aUSB device on XP tab to the System Tray, and arrow to an icon called Safely Remove Hardware, and then press the context menu key. A menu will pop up and there will be an option called Safely Remove Hardware. Press enter on that and then you will get a standard Windows dialog box with a list of USB devices connected to your computer. Arrow to the device to remove, and tab to the Safely Remove button. Once Windows XP says it is safe to remove then unplug the USB device. Failing to safely remove a USB device can lead to bad things.
