The one female has accepted her "cave" but the other
still isn't comfortable or accepting of hers..? She's
on top of the rocks under the heat lamp now. I know
the substrate is the same temp as before I changed the
rocks...they already had the heat pad, I just added
the rocks to their tank. The male is sometimes in
his, some times in his cool side. He discovered a
ledge in there and was up on it - scared the daylights
out of me when I couldn't find him... didn't think to
look on the ledge until I saw his tail hanging out...!
I thought he had gotten out of the tank somehow...
almost impossible, but with animals you never know!
His heat pad is the new one, and the directions said
that it will heat up immediately, but it will take
24-48 hours to reach it's peak. I have been testing
it throughout the day (probably why he got fed up and
moved to the cool side!) and as it gets warmer, moving
more sand into the cave to lower the temp for him... I
guess they just need to get use to the new house! Oh,
well... finicky little critters!
