LOL

Steven, I don't plan to shoot you! Heaven forbid! You
have been a fount (spelling?) of knowledge that I
don't WANT to lose! In all of my reading, I have never
come across any such information. Can you remember
where you found it? What was the reasoning behind it?
The cave is over the UTH, so no matter where she lays,
it would be the same temperature... unless I made
certain spots deeper in sand than others (or she did
it herself!) Her previous cave was an angled rock off
of the terra cotta cave her sister had, which was only
about 5" round... Dolly (the terra cave dweller)
didn't like to share her cave with Trixie, and since I
remembered that they like to have their own individual
homes, I tried to make one for Trixie.. which she did
eventually use. I was concered that the caves weren't
high enough, never thought about wide enough! As far
as I can determine, Dolly's cave isn't large, it's
made in the corner of the tank rather than side to
side... it forms a rough triangle... Trixie's cave is
more square or rather rectangular.... but both are
basically the same square inches...12-16 square
inches... it's not exact square... (like 3"wx4"l for
Trixie's and 4"w at the base and 4"l on the sides for
Dolly's - has a 1.5" opening)

Thanks for your help and advice, though... I really
appreciate it!

I noticed this morning that Trixie is getting very
large with eggs... I need to get an egg box in there
and get the "homemade" incubator set up! For some
reason, though, they like to bury their eggs above the
UTH... any advice on this? It's hard to know they have
laid their eggs, until I do a clean up job through the
sand... then I find them all shriveled up! They don't
seem to like the egg laying hide boxes, though I made
them according to what has been said on the list... I
got rid of the perlite, and am just using some sand
with moist moss.. (haven't gotten the vermiculite
yet!) Thanks in advance, as usual! *smile*
