Wow, that's a long post! :)

I don't know whether this is good or bad :) I went on a reading binge on
the web and read and bookmarked everything I could find. Seems some things
stick in my mind (not the URLs, though :) A lot of this is simply applying
the temperature requirements of leopard geckos. My baby Roxy seems to like
her hiding hole somewhere in the middle of a daytime temperature gradient of
88f - 78f The light is shining on 1/3 of her bowl, so she's probably pretty
close to 88 on that side, and she spends her time on that side of the bowl.
Height is not a consideration over the height of the animal. All they do is
lie and come in and get out. My personal thought on hide-hole size is it
should be wide enough for the animal to turn around easily and at least as
long as the animal, maybe less if it's a more circular hide.
Congratulations on your female being gravid! As far as burying eggs in the
sand, moist hide-holes might help, vermiculite might help, but if it were
me, I'd pull out all the sand.
I'm unhappy with the vermiculite in Roxy's hide-hole because I think she
likes to stay in there as much as possible now, and I'd like to be able to
feed her in the morning. So, unfortunately, I'm going to pull it out and go
back to a sponge. She may not be as happy but I will. I have also stopped
using the red film for my lamp. In the cereal box, it doesn't shine on a
good half the tank, which I hope will increase the gradient. I'm just
turning it off at night. It's never even going to go down to the 60's in
here.
