Another trick when using power tools to cut Plexiglas is to place masking
tape over the area that you want to cut. Then coat the tape with wax which
will help to lubricate the blade while cutting. I like using a spray on
carnauba wax but automotive paste wax also works well.
Someone mentioned drilling holes in plexi here is another trick for getting
a clean hole without cracking the material. Always place a scrap piece of
material preferable 1/4" (6 mm)thick behind the area to be drilled and
secure the two pieces together then drill slowly through until you are
halfway into the scrap piece. The wax lubricant also helps when drilling
larger holes in plexi.

        Begin by drilling a large hole (or a couple if necessary).  Then
use a skil or coping saw.  I've built a bunch of quarter- and halfpipes in
my time, and I say Skil Saws kick band saw's butts any day.
