I am not passing judgement, just trying to make sense of it all. As far as poor me with my limited brain power can understand, Americans love superiority. They are brought up like that. They are eternal optimists and intensely dislike losers, hence that was and is difficult to introduce universal health care because it is based on the solidarity principle. Whereas Americans are taught to go it alone in this world. Get rich without thinking about your neighbor or those left behind in the rat race. Superman was born in America, that is why his movie is so popular.It appeals to the American psyche. There is no place for weaklings in American society. Everybody wants and aspires a millionaire or to be the king of Wall Street and not a poet or a university don.That kind of mentality creates the gun culture, the quest to be the strongest kid on the block, no matter what. Actually the gun is the extension of the penis. What one can not get by persuasion, one gets by force. American culture is a culture of force and coercion. The Constitution and the Second Amendment bears this out,that is why it will never be repealed or changed. Americans tend to think that they still live in a situation where they must resist and fight the British colonial forces (read : everybody else who is not like them). Children at school learn to pledge allegiance to the flag, but in fact it is an indoctrination not unlike what they did and do in communist countries.The Stars and Stripes can be substituted by the Hammer and the Sickle.and the feeling of superiority instilled from early childhood on. So the concept of Amrica First is not new at all. It is in their DNA, That is why Trump talk resonates so well with so many Americans. Just think about what I just said and you might better understand what is happening in the good old USA. Nothing new at all.
