Running a free and open source software based firewall on a Win98 box seems to me to be a little difficult to do correctly, as the Win98 "kernel" is closed. You would have to have a prog running that can inspect all packets before certain other progs get to them. I don't think that's possible with any M$ software. I know there are closed apps out there for Windoze, but I suspect they are not as robust as the firewalls built into the Linux and *BSD kernels.
Any thoughts? Does M$ Windows have the capability to establish a firewall ruleset?
