Ahhhhhhh, acute mental conflict!  I hate a thing that does not work, but I also 
know that getting dragged into hardware debugging can eat up hours of time.  

I've managed to get a Debian mirror working and I'm going to bring some 
networking equipment in for it.  Your cat5 cable would be helpful. 

I've got a box full of old network cards, and even whole working systems that I 
could bring in and swap, but I'm loath to get into that.  

Where should we draw the line?  What works best?
