apt-mirror is differnet from debmirror, I think. Let me know how apt-mirror works out.
If you want x to work with Debian the way it worked with Red Hat, just copy relavant chunks of the X11 config files. I still have not figured out the new 4 stuff. When it works, it's great. When it does not, I'm stuck or I go back to the svga server or I don't worry about it and just export everything to a box that works.
