I am very much interested and i did ask around the brlug asking if there's a group or start a user group on campus. I asked around on campus too. There are two guys who for for HPC who use linux for their day to day work. almost an year back they tried to get my netgear wireless card to work with redhat. well one of them is the one hosting redhat.lsu.edu.
I think there are a lot of people who are interested or already using Open Source/Linux solutions for official work.we all know for a fact that the math dept hosts a debian mirror! . last week a big grant(i don't the figure but i think it should be in 7 digits) was given to LSU for developing a linux cluster. I think its perfect time to get people interested in Open Source/Linux. well here's the thing. I am not really sure if it should be a fully fledged lug or a mini-brlug. I am really split about this. on one hand a lsulug(or whatever) would be cool and name could be associated with LSU. As Doug said "if it doesn't end in lsu.edu, it cannot possibly relate to LSU". On the other hand i see that it would be better to get people involved in brlug 'cause we already an established group. Isaac Traxler kinda suggested that we start a sig with ACM and when it gets momentum we can start our own LUG. What do you guys think.
