partimage is a lot easier than you think and a LOT quicker than dd.
you could've either mounted the 60GB over NFS or setup a partimaged
server on your 60GB machine.  since partimage understands filesystems,
it's a LOT quicker than dd.  How long depends on how much data is
stored in the partitions (dd is bit for bit copy of course).  I have
partitions much larger than 60GB (RAID5) and they take far less than
7-8 hours to backup and restore.

You can probably tell partimage on the cli invocation which partitions
to backup or whip up a temporary script to invoke it multiple times so
you don't have to babysit it while it images your disk.
