partimage is a lot easier than you think and a LOT quicker than dd. you could've either mounted the 60GB over NFS or setup a partimaged server on your 60GB machine. since partimage understands filesystems, it's a LOT quicker than dd. How long depends on how much data is stored in the partitions (dd is bit for bit copy of course). I have partitions much larger than 60GB (RAID5) and they take far less than 7-8 hours to backup and restore. Details are at: http://www.scottharney.com/cgi-bin/blog.cgi/2003/02/21#knoppix_and_partimage A similar CD just for system backup, etc is at http://www.sysresccd.org also http://www.partimage.org You can probably tell partimage on the cli invocation which partitions to backup or whip up a temporary script to invoke it multiple times so you don't have to babysit it while it images your disk. -- Scott Harney<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> "...and one script to rule them all." gpg key fingerprint=7125 0BD3 8EC4 08D7 321D CEE9 F024 7DA6 0BC7 94E5
