I believe you can turn off the nvidia logo splash screen from displaying at
all. Have you tried setting the following in the "Device" section of your
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 or /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?
Option "NoLogo" "1"
The option has been in the nvidia drivers for a while now. If it works, you
should probably file a bug report with Mepis and they can add it by default to
their X config.
