I don't think it's even an NVIDIA issue. I have had a Geforce2 GTS (64 MB AGP) for a long time and have worked seamlessly throughout many driver revisions under Linux.
My Geforce2 MX (although PCI) works under Linux now.... I appreciate the help, Scott, and the kind words. Unfortunately, it's worse than just cutting off the logo splash. The problem is rooted somewhere in how the Geforce4 MX- and TNT line of cards handle AGP. I've been to the Nvidia forums, and lots of people are having this same problem. Nvidia's response has been; "there's a known problem with the Geforce4 MX and TNT series of cards," but make no mention of a future driver release fixing it. I am almost convinced that it's a sideways effort to encourage people to buy new cards (which, sadly, I am considering).
