I appreciate the help, Scott, and the kind words. Unfortunately,
it's worse than just cutting off the logo splash. The problem is rooted
somewhere in how the Geforce4 MX- and TNT line of cards handle AGP.
I've been to the Nvidia forums, and lots of people are having this same
problem. Nvidia's response has been; "there's a known problem with the
Geforce4 MX and TNT series of cards," but make no mention of a future
driver release fixing it.
I am almost convinced that it's a sideways effort to encourage
people to buy new cards (which, sadly, I am considering).
