Hopefully this will be clear(er): 
 * If you follow the instructions provided, then everything should work without 
needing to edit/create any files and a J icon should be available under 
Start|Programs. Unfortunately you have yet to describe in any detail what you 
have actually tried and that makes it hard for anyone to be specific in their 
advice. For example have you tried copying the .lnk files to   \Windows\Start 
Menu\Programs  ?

The other things I mentioned are only necessary for those of us who want/need 
non-default installations of J:
 * It is possible to install J to a folder other than \j602  but in that case 
you will need to edit the .lnk files if you want to Start|Programs 
icon/shortcut to work.

 * If you want the j602-user folder to be located in a non-default location 
then you can create an appropriate profilex.ijs file.

As an aside it would be much easier to follow the thread if you retained some
