As opposed to? I think patriotism is a way of life, not affiliated
with some political party, as bad as some would like to impose that association.

sure, being patriotic is great. however patriotism does not equate to
blindly believing & following the president, or any president just
because he's the president. patriotism is pride in your nation, and
wanting others to envy your nation because it is, in your opinion, the
best.

right now, its rather difficult to be proud of a country that just about
all the other nations of the world, and their citizens either distrust
or outright hate.

Last I remember, it's not about winning a popularity contest. I really don't give a rat's patootie what somebody else thinks of us, because if you even start, you'll never win. You can't please all of the people, all of the time. It's about the difference between right and wrong. Hell, half the world was against us in W.W.II, but that didn't cause anyone to say "Whoa, others don't like us doing this so we'll stop". There's a tendency to overcomplicate things and try to put so many meanings and hidden agendas into it to serve whatever purpose the argument is for, and it's not necessarily that way. It's not about religion, oil, food, or any other ulterior purpose. It's about deposing a so called leader who defies the imposed penalties of the entire global community, (who it seems is no more than a paper tiger now) and commits genocide amongst his own people to maintain his position, while preparing to destroy his neighbors who certainly haven't precipitated the situation. The guy's an asshole and needs to go, plain and simple.
