I'm pretty sure it's the other way around... the switch is smart enough to adapt, and the hub is stupid. Oh, here's another clue: Although there was *no* successful pinging taking place the XP box *did* manage to at least resolve a MAC address occasionally, sometimes typing 'arp -a' in the shell (the equivalent of 'arp' in linux) did manage to get the right MAC address... other times it just printed the MAC as all zeros (00:00:00:etc) I even tried turning off every computer in the house, the DSL router and the switch, which sucked coz I lost my 51 day uptime on my p133 gentoo server :-( -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
