Well on this note I must say that I had very little problem with the mydoom virus as I use clamav <http://clamav.net> which is a open source user maintained , ie users can make virus submissions, thus then the mydoom broke out clamav was one of the first to support mydoom within a matter of hoursand , my cron updates the clamvirus definition every hour, so i had very little problem with mydoom. With the demise of RAV antivirus scanner (it got bought by M$) many sysadmins were scratching their heads about a viable option for mail scanning well I would strongly suggest that clamav be a good choice now.
