I think you're confusing HSDPA with CDMA. UMTS/HSDPA is a data
'extension' of GSM.
According to http://www.gsacom.com/news/statistics.php4 there are 140
HSDPA network who have rolled out or are going to roll out HSDPA in 64
countries including the US, all of western europe, south africa,
australia, nz, japan, korea, indonesia, philipines...
It really does seem odd that they're not launching a 3G phone...
