****** Normally people don't say in GML where they live. We all assume
they know their local laws and abide by them. But if I were to tell
someone in GML that they didn't need an auto driver's license because
nobody checks, then IMHO I'd be promoting something illegal. GML Charter
can't police what people do, but it can police the contents of GML.

****** AGS has had the CA problem and I don't know how it resolved it.
There was discussion that AGS wouldn't accept membership from a CA
resident; and that a pup born in CA could not be registered through AGS.
That shouldn't be GML's problem. It isn't illegal in CA to CARE for a
gerbil -- it's illegal to own one. I realize that's a very fine
distinction. I think GML shouldn't be used to promote smuggling gerbils
into CA.
You and I assisted a rescue of some gerbils that were already in CA. We
did not tell everyone in GML how to hide their gerbils in CA, nor advocate
that everyone in CA should get more gerbils.

****** GML cannot enforce society's laws. Charter already describes
sanctions for enforcing the charter.
Please note that GML members already are taking personal risks when they
describe an illegal activity in GML. To illustrate: Suppose I posted in
GML that I live in CA and it's easy to get away with owning gerbils there.
And suppose someone who read that is strongly opposed to having gerbils in
CA (there are people like that). They could make a phone call and I'd be
served with a piece of paper giving me 30 days to PROVE that the gerbils
have been removed from the state or have been euthanized. I'd have
brought it on myself by posting in GML that I am a scofflaw. Similarly,
someone angry about shipping practices could call a breeder's post office
and effectively put that breeder out of business by pointing out the
regulations that put the postmaster's job at risk.
