I think this is incredibly dangerous for the gerbils so I wouldn't reccommend
anyone doing it. But something that would be just as interesting is to have a
large tank and fill it with (clean) dirt, and put a clan of males in there and
just watch them thrive and dig. I've been thinking about doing it myself. The
only disadvantages are
1. If they don't want to burrow, you'll just have a bunch of bored gerbils
close to the top
2. If one dies, he may be buried so deep you wouldn't know for several days
Anyway, if anyone has any experience in this, please let me know. I'd love to
try it out.
