NO. This is just asking for her to pound the other
gerbil, a gerbil ball, and one or more wounded
and dead gerbils.
This gerbil mentioned has a history of being antisocial
and this is not the way to try to pair her up. Split cage
is about the only way to attempt it.

Depends on what you put in the dig layer.
With the recycled paper bedding I use, two inches
gives them a lot to root through and rearrange, and
they will. It is fun to hear one going rustle along one
side of a 15 gallon aquarium, and seeing the slight
movements of the bedding as the little excavator
busily moles their way along.
