How can I create a Word document from within REALbasic if I do not have MS Office? Is there a routine or dll out there I could use? (if so, how?)

Of course, you can create files for any application that exists - provided you know byte for byte what format it uses. For example, I learned how to create a bitmap file by studying existing ones - but you can only do this if it is a fairly simple format, e.g. a number which represents the length of the file is easy to spot but numbers that give other info might not be.

On the other hand, if you write a file in a simple format you might be able to rely obn MSWord's 'intelligence', since it can open files other than .doc.
But if you don't have Word, you can't test it.
