Joe,
True but not relevant; SaveStyledEditField does not generate an RTF
file on the Mac. It generates a SimpleText file instead, which is a
text file with style data in the resource fork.
Thanks for the helpful information.
I think someone answered this already, but I haven't succeeded yet in
finding the reply that someone (may have) posted. Even though I'm using
the professional edition of REALbasic, apparently the Mac version of
REALbasic contains much more information about (Mac) File Types. I
think I remember someone's providing a URL where you could get a list of
what to fill in for "Display Name," "Object Name," "MacType,"
"MacCreator," and "Extension" for the various Mac file types, but I'm
not positive, since I have not yet managed to find such a post.
A related question: Are there some good resources that contain pointers
about the most common things that need to be done for Windows/Mac
compatibility? (I'm primarily interested in knowing how to handle File
Types at this point, but there may be other areas especially important
to handle in a way that will not produce needless conflicts.) Or are
there good books on Windows/Mac differences for those with a Windows
background who want to know such things as what a "resource fork" is?
(Has anyone, for example, written a book like "Macs for Windows
Dummies"? <grin>)
Warm regards,
Barry Traver
