GII can be installed separate from GGI. I strongly believe most docs (like
manpages etc.) should come with the package. Keeping docs and code in sync is
very important.

Use CVS or diffs, then. Docs that don't change don't take up bandwidth
there.

Correct.
We do pregenerate some files when making the snaps from CVS (./configure),
to avoid nondevelopers having to have auto* installed, but that's another
story.

Yeah. That would be a good idea for those that have problems with generation
