Is gcc really needed, or can we get by with -fasm (-fvia-C would work any
time gcc can be found, and tells the user (how?) to install gcc anytime
ghc -fvia-C is tried). Or are other important pieces (ld, as) that aren't
there without Apple developer tools installed first?
